This blog post by the way is not going to be one of my most sexy, that is unless you like a man in a suit.
I have to say it, My Father doesn't speak to me any longer, telling me in an email about 10 years ago that we were never close, (not true, so not true). That life is short, (and that is true), that we never will so let's move on. Great Job Dad.
None of the men in my life have ever broke up with me via an email or text.
They always had the grace to do it in person, if it needed to be done.
In fact, my 2nd Partner, my handsome Greek-Cypriot prince of a Man broke up with me in therapy.
It was mutual and not because we didn't love each other, but I digress.
Point is, I had to go to a funeral where my father was going to be, and not speaking to me.
I didn't want to add to my cousins despair, nor my only surviving Aunt was back from the "Old Country", that being the state of Oklahoma.
I also didn't want to shy away and stay in the closet, just because my father evidently still has an issue with me and my homosexuality. So, I went, and held my head up high. My Cousins, who are the children of my deceased Aunt, gave me numerous BIG hugs, and welcomed me with open arms, saying to my surviving Aunt from OK that my father problem was "His Problem, not theirs"
What made matters worse, was the way my Half-Sisters, the children from my Father's 2nd Marriage.
Have you ever seen someone ignore you as they walk by you, with their face all tightened up in anger, that's how my sisters walked past me, sorta like I had gone and done Gay Porn and ruined the family name! LOL.
I just wanted you all to know, I held my head high with self respect.
I'm not going to let Homophobia keep me from honoring an Aunt I loved as a little boy.
I (and you) have every right to be a part of our individual families!
This Aunt used to sing that song" Billy Boy, Oh where have you been charming Billy", I have been singing that song to myself since I found out about her death. Nice Memories.
Final Blow: My oldest half-sister who lives in San Diego actually blocked me on Facebook.
Enough of this, I promise to post something more uplifting next time.
